What do I need to rent a car from Localiza?
Brazilian customers with a CNH:
The minimum rental requirements are:
- Be at least 18 years old. Additionally, drivers under 21 must include the Young Driver add-on at the time of booking;
- Have a valid driver's license;
- Pass a credit approval evaluation;
- Have a credit card (physical or contactless) in the name of the reservation holder or the Financially Responsible Person to pay the Pre-Authorization
Foreign customers or Brazilian customers with a foreign driver’s license:
The minimum rental requirements are:
- Be at least 18 years old. Additionally, drivers under 21 must include the "Young Driver" add-on at the time of booking;
- Have a valid driver's license;
- Pass a credit approval evaluation;
- Have a credit card (physical or contactless) in the name of the reservation holder.
- Additionally, you need a document proving your entry date into the country, such as:
- Passport with a physical stamp from the Federal Police showing entry into Brazil, or
- Air, sea, or bus ticket showing the country of origin and entry date into Brazil, or
- Federal Police permit.
Lastly, according to Brazilian Traffic Legislation, customers with a foreign driver's license can only drive in Brazil for up to 180 days, respecting the validity of the original license. Ensure the presented proof complies with this period.
Reminder: For Mercosur countries, a passport is not necessary. An ID is sufficient.
